​​​​​Are you looking for a hot, sexy novella? Then look no further than Slow Ride by Cathryn Fox. When this book was originally released in 2013 under a different title, I really liked it. This version is slightly different and equally as engaging. The main characters, attorney Julia Blair, and sports doctor and part-time cowboy, Chase Cooper, are likable, real and have a ton of chemistry.

Julia and Cooper have known each other since high school. In fact during that time, Cooper was best friend's with Julia's funny and outgoing twin sister Mari, even though they both secretly harbored a crush on one another. Now years later, Cooper and his two buddies are feeling nostalgic and decide to contact the women that "got away" for a chance of happiness. Cooper and his friends own and operate a dude ranch.

Julia arrives at Cooper's ranch completely bewildered. She knows that Cooper was expecting Mari, not the quiet, conservative Julia. As luck would have it, Julia is the one who Cooper really wants. Their relationship starts out very casually, but by the end of the week, they are madly in love and experiencing the best sex of their loves.

This is an extremely steamy novella. I just loved how Julia and Cooper came together, while slowly sharing their secrets with one another. If you are looking for a quick-paced, well-written, sexy novella, give this book a shout.

What a fun and sweet read!!! Slow Burn was just the perfect sexy and sweet read to get lost in!! If you are a fan of second chances and taking risks then this book is for you. In Slow Burn, Ms. Cathryn Fox introduces two high school "friends" get their chance at love and romance. I use the term friends loosely since technically they weren't friends since the hero, Coop was best friends with Julia's twin sister, Mari. Fast forward to ten years later, Coop gets his second chance to finally admit to Julia that she has always been the girl on his mind. Julia always assumed that Coop only liked and wanted Mari and had blinders on when it came to her but as it turns out she was wrong. When Julia arrives at Coop's ranch, she didn't expect the same feelings she had for Coop ten years ago would be just as strong. As Coop and Julia begins to spend time with each other, feelings begins to intensify and it is up to Coop to make Julia see that she is the only person he wants. Will Julia be able to let Coop into her life?

Slow Burn was the first book that I have read from this author and it surely won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick, light, fun, and sweet read!!! This book was well-written and had lovable characters. So if you are looking for a quick romance escape then I highly recommend Slow Burn by Cathryn Fox!!! There is nothing like a hot sexy cowboy and attorney to heat up those e-readers.

I'm a big fan of Cathryn and have read everything she's published over the last few years. Slow Ride, the first book in the Playing For Keeps series is another book that I loved. The whole concept of this book - trying to find the girl who you wished you had the guts to approach in "that way" in high school to see if the spark is still there.

Enter Coop, very handsome and sexy "cowboy" and Julia a beautiful young lawyer.... when they were in High School, Julia thought Coop had a thing for her identical twin sister so her shock in receiving a mysterious invite to a Dude Ranch for a week took her by surprise. Her dilemma on whether to attend or not continued until she actually arrived at the Ranch.

The chemistry between Coop and Julia is swoon worthy. Both of them have grown into themselves over the last several years allowing them to explore the feelings they've had for each other all these years.

The setting of the Ranch is beautiful, tranquil and relaxing opening Julia's eyes to both Coop and what's possible in her life. And what she sees excites. Adding Coop into the deal and you can only imagine how hot and steamy these two will be together if they can manage to get out of their own way. The steaminess factor between our H/h is enough to fog up your windows!

Can Coop and Julia overcome what they perceive the other wants both from their partner and in their lives? Well, you need to read this great book to get the answer to this question!

worth the wait

The kind of books you wish were true and you were in it! this third instalment was just as readable with its view for the world and mankind, does get quite spiritual but i think in a good way, definately worth a read.....would make a great movie.

Good read. For a digital version, I enjoyed the story. If I could change anything I would have given more detail to some of the characters. I would also like to see no reference to any religion. as the book is based on spiritual growth and evolution. I look forward to seeing more from this author and it would be nice see him picked up by a professional publisher!!

Then, when Benjamin is sent on a spying mission against a renegade band of Cherokees, his life is forever changed when he happens upon an Indian maiden named Moonglow bathing in the chilly mountain waters of Spring Creek. The historical yet freely embellished character driven tale soon takes a sudden turn when Moonglow is threatened by a pack of ferocious timber wolves. Thinking only of her safety, Benjamin saves the defenseless maiden but then has to flee for his life just moments after learning her name when braves in her village hear gunshots and come looking for him. Using a most unconventional tactic, he escapes capture. Now separated from Moonglow by distance and time, the brave patriot finds love in the arms of Mary Rankin, only to lose her and their unborn baby when she suddenly dies. He is left heartbroken. But fate steps in and reunites the patriot with the Indian maiden. Now, she has applied these skills to the historical tale she and husband Danny Lee Welch spun about her fourth great grandparents. Sandra holds a BA from Morehead State University (KY) and an MEd from Ohio University. Danny, a retired telecommunications technician, is an avid storyteller both verbally and musically. Born and raised in the hills of northeastern Kentucky, they now reside in the Hocking Hills Region of southeastern Ohio.

Wow, This would make a great film!

From the very begininning, this story is packed full of action. The realistic scenes, characters and language make the reader feel as though they are living the story. I could not put this down once I started reading it. Along with the horrors of war and the hardships of the time period, are the true love of family and friends and the struggle for survival. The eternal love between Moonglow and Benjamin is represented beautifully by the thoughts and actions of the characters. This is a must read by those who enjoy being a part of a fantastic story. I hope the authors will consider a sequel.

As a descendent of Ben Hamilton & Moonglow, I was anxious to read this historical fiction. I wasn't disappointed! I would really be interested in knowing what was actually historical & what was fiction.

Great read

Reminiscent of Allan Eckert's "The Frontiersmen", although the facts are a bit more embellished in "Unruffled Courage". Deserves a sequel to fill in some of the gaps in the storyline. For instance, from the marriage of Ben and Moonglow and within a few pages, the family with 10 children. Looking forward to another historical novel by Mr. and Mrs. Welch. The hills of eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio are full of untold stories.

Stevens' latest and best

I was hoping that this book would be as good as the author's previous two, but I was wrong. It was even better. Stevens is one of the top researchers in the field of hidden Nazi technology, and his two previous books, "Hitler's Flying Saucers," and "Hitler's Suppressed and Still Secret Weapons, Science, and Technology," are must haves in this area, along with Joseph Farrell, Nick Cook, and Igor Witkowski.

This book is written in more detailed fashion than the author's previous books, which were fairly detailed already. He states that this is his last book on this topic, which I hope is not true, as his work is very good and has shed much light on the secret Nazi empire which continues to this day.

Where he departs from Farrell is in his more detailed assessment of the fictions of Wilhelm Landig, which is usually regarded as pro-Nazi hype. Stevens goes to some lengths to show how there is some evidence, although no solid proof, of many of Landig's claims. His analysis is compelling, and there are enough solid bits of evidence to make a reasonable person take notice. The areas of flying machines, atomic research, and submarine development are the main technological arenas focused on in this book. Stevens dishes up quite a bit of solid evidence for technology far in advance of what we are usually told the Nazis developed.

He also goes into quite a bit of depth on Otto Skorzeny, the most visible link between the 3rd Reich and the modern Nazi International. Skorzeny is linked quite openly to current "terrorism," and his movements and activities after the war are covered enough to further shore up Steven's themes in the book.

A must read if you are interested in WW2 history and how it has influenced events which continue to this day.

Secrets of WWII and the Cold War Unveiled

Most people, as victims of the public school system, have no idea how vast, all-encompassing and destructive WWII was. That's why nearly 70 years after its end that we still have countless new books chronicling "new" discoveries, events and people of the War. What many historians have been afraid to touch the secret undertakings of the Nazis before, during and after the War. Sure, you have the fanciful fascination in film and novels with their quests for relics and esoteric knowledge. But their scientific endeavors, technology and influence in the Cold War have been often ignored. Why? That last part, the Cold War, that's why. Even as we were putting on trial Nazis and continued to "hunt" them up until the present, we were using others, sometimes setting them free from jail and erasing their past, to contain and fight the Soviets. There's a lot more to the standard "Project Paperclip" story that we are usually told.

Now, decades later, and with the Cold War decades dead, more people are studying this era and its secrets (see The Dead Hand, 15 Minutes, Lab 257, LBJ and the Conspiracy to Kill Kennedy). There is still some trepidation to explore the Nazi end of things by mainstream historians, but that may be changing (Grey Wolf). In part thanks to writers like Stevens (see his Hitler's Flying Saucers and Hitler's Suppressed and Still-Secret Weapons, Science and Technology), it is no longer a "fringe" topic.

In this volume Stevens expands upon and updates his previous books. New material on secret bases and U-boats, the latest on Hitler's UFOS and some insight to what happened after the War. This is an excellent conclusion to his trilogy of books and the best in the series. Since he has began this, others have delved even deeper into this subject (see The SS Brotherhood of the Bell, Reich Of The Black Sun, Roswell and the Reich, etc.) and Stevens here touches on those latest studies. Sure, some is speculation, but why continue to hide the past? Now that the War is long dead and the Cold War quickly becoming (unfortunately) forgotten, it is time for the secrets to be unburied and history set straight. The time for lies and deception is over. Only an open history allows for a prosperous future.

Mr. Stevens: Don't let this be your last book.

Enlightening & riveting as well. The problem is that readers may find it hard to accept the "coded" messages of Wilhelm Landig and Admiral Donitz. I still have to go over Mr. Steven's references to put the whole picture together. As well as Dr. Joseph Farrell, Geoffrey Brooks, Philip Henshall & Friedrich Georg's Hitler's Miracle Weapons. Which Mr. Stevens was a major contributor to. Obviously all of Mr. Steven's work needs to be furthered as more documents surface to the general public for official historical record. The hidden history of Nazi technology is becoming clearer due to Mr. Stevens' books & the German Research Project. Readers must Google that latter title to send away for his catalogue about the vast work that he has amassed. Readers, please check if that catalogue is still availible. Please Mr. Stevens': You've attained a great level of mechanical reference knowledge due to your toil. There's much more work to be revised and refined in this subject. Excellent text!

I am finding this text to be excellent. It is fairly well written and as understandable as I expect a text of this nature. According to my professor it is the best criminology textbook written in the English language. I will be keeping this text after my class is finished, as a reference. Interesting chapter on history of crime as well (I was afraid that chapter would be boring).

A criminology primer for law professionals, tutors and learners

I became aware of Professor Newburn's new work on both theoretical and applied criminology from BTEC. This book is well suited for the beginner, the professional training to become involved in any or all aspects of the criminal justice process, and the interested learner whose career may overlap with the role of the criminologist in the public services.

When I started teaching Criminology for the law undergraduate some 20 years ago, the basis of theoretical criminology had remained relatively static although some exciting new studies had appeared linking research from the Chicago School and anomie with the overtly political New Criminology and expanding feminist/gender issues. Mixing these strands of radical and realist theories with the complete confusion of current applied criminology measures and the failures of the legal framework of modern law enforcement is a monumental modern task and Newburn excels with his objective in this modern work presented with thought and just the right amount of detail.

The use of additional website support for both learners and tutors is another plus factor. I was unsure of how well the illustrations would fit in here as I have written a number of different versions of the basic content of this book for other organisations at both GCE and undergraduate level and found merging the dry written word with charts, tables and photographs actually does help when presenting the subject to learners where I use differentiation practice

My most recent teaching assignment required the teaching of part of this subject for BTEC Public Services courses and from reflective practice, I do recommend this book as a great primer for those who need a framework of criminology for their public service careers. It blends the wholly academic elements with the vocational aspects of BTEC highly effectively and gets the balance right for the range of learners we have.

The contents cover 36 headings in six parts. Like the views of my colleagues teaching this subject, there are always going to be problems with keeping this work up to date for Parts 4, 5 and 6. Reforming criminal justice, its current critical issues, and researching criminology which I am currently reading for post graduate studies is tackled well, and I would envisage web involvement being much more important as this work goes into another edition.

Clearly, Newburn's broad approach is to be welcomed because it is accessible and authoritative being lively at all times with an intellectual sparkle which gives the reader encouragement to explore controversial issues: all the more controversial as `law'n'order' remains at the top of the political agenda with the economy, presumably remaining so for some time to come.

Tim Newburn's experience shines through brilliantly here, and I know my colleagues who teach this subject welcome his approach as being at the top of the tree for either BTEC or the more formal academic qualifications and it is the best book of its type for us at the moment, linking the more established teaching with innovation at a time of turbulence in the Home Office- extracts are great for PowerPoint, too, even though PPPs are not everybody's ideal for teaching, but it works with Newburn's approach.

So thank you, Willan Publishing, for this contribution to the teaching of criminology today.

fantastic book

Extremely good and useful book for any lawyer. Contains all the information one might expect from criminology textbook. As for the quality, it is outstanding and I'm very content. The quality of the book is lot much better than those law books for which I have paid lot more money. Buy it if you are interested in criminal law and criminology, you definitely won't regret it.
